I am an assistant professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan.  My research focuses on conflict and democratization, with a particular emphasis on the role of civil-military relations in these processes.  My work has appeared in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research and Foreign Policy Analysis.  Please visit my research page to see my published work and other projects that are in development.
